Congratulations to the indoor color guard, majorettes, and percussion ensemble for their excellent performances this past weekend at Atlantic Coast Championships. The majorettes achieved their highest score ever in the intermediate A class. The color guard, which was promoted last year, was again promoted this year, making finals and placing 5th in the intermediate A class, also achieving their highest score at that level. The percussion ensemble medalled for the first time at Championships, finishing in third at finals, earning the bronze medal, and also achieving their highest score ever. Congratulations to all of the students and staff members on a great season full of wonderful performances that represented CDSD well.

On Friday four of our music groups participated in the Heritage Music Festival in Boston. Each of the groups did an excellent job and our school groups received the Spirit Award for outstanding excellence in representing their school and their overall positive attitude and behavior.

The Chamber Orchestra received a Silver Award.
The Men's Choir received a Gold Award and 2nd place in their division.
Chanson received a Gold Award and 2nd place in their division.
Singers received a Gold Award and tied for 1st place in their division and also tied for the overall choral award.


Along with these distinctions, Jeremy Peisner was given a Maestro Award for his musical excellence as accompanist for the Men's Choir.

Congratulations to all these groups for a job well done.

The following students will travel to Erie, PA to participate in the PMEA All-State Music Ensembles.  These students have been selected through several vigorous rounds of auditions and have proven they are among the best performers in the state.

Brett Cuddy All-State Vocal Jazz (2nd consecutive year selected to All-State)
John Leonard All-State Band
Andrew Herring All State Band (2nd consecutive year selected to All-State)

Andrew Herring will be attending the National Association for Music Education All-Eastern Conference. Andy's jazz composition "High of 95" was selected as one of the best student compositions in the nation and will be premiered at the conference. He has also been invited to be part of a forum on musical composition during the conference.

8 Central Dauphin students participated in PMEA Region Chorus over the weekend. In addition to participating in a fantastic concert on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, Central Dauphin's students competed against over 200 singers from across 16 counties for the right to continue to the Region level. Two students qualified for All-State chorus, with Brett Cuddy earning First Chair and Caroline Gorland earning Sixth. Congratulations to everyone who participated!

CD Band Boosters Association's 23nd Annual Spring Craft Show

Spring in the Susquehanna Valley doesn't really begin until March 23rd, the date of the Central Dauphin Band Boosters Association's 23nd Annual Spring Craft Show! Our volunteer organizers have been hard at work planning this amazing event, which takes place on Saturday, March 23, from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm at the Central Dauphin High School, 437 Piketown Road, Harrisburg, PA.

Congratulations to the Central Dauphin Indoor Percussion Ensemble. This past weekend the ensemble competed in a World Guard International regional event at Unionville High School. CD performed a great prelim show, and for the first time at a national competition, made finals. Congratulations to everyone involved in this great accomplishment!

Congratulations to CDHS senior John Leonard and junior Andrew Herring on being named respectively to the Pennsylvania All-State Wind Ensemble and All-State Concert Band. Both students will represent CDHS at the PMEA All-State conference in April.

Congratulations to the CD students who participated in the fantastic PMEA Region Five Honors Band concert his past weekend at Bangor High School. Additionally, junior Andrew Herring was selected for All-State Band, his second selection to an All-State music ensemble in the past two years.

Central Dauphin High School's Musical production of Guys and Dolls begins Friday, March 1st at 7:30pm. Come see this classic Broadway comedy, set in 1940's New York City, and filled with gangsters, gamblers, chorus girls, cops, crooks, and do-gooder Missionaries. Shows are Friday March 1st at 7:30pm, Saturday March 2nd at 2:30pm and 7:30pm, and Sunday March 3rd at 2:30pm. Special $5 student tickets will be available for purchase at every lunch period from today until Friday March 1st. Simply show your Student ID to take advantage of the student special. Come and support the cast and crew of Guys and Dolls!

10 Central Dauphin students participated in PMEA District Chorus over the weekend, among the highest representation of all the 70 districts. In addition to participating in a fantastic concert on Saturday and performing a world premiere piece, Central Dauphin's students competed against over 200 singers from across 8 counties for the right to continue to the Region level. An unprecedented 8 students will be continuing on, with Michael Eldridge and Corianne Silvers earning 1st chair in their sections, Caroline Gorland 3rd chair and Rebekah Kemerer 5th chair. Also moving on are Brett Cuddy, Andy Herring, Michael Azzato and Hope Williard. Congratulations to everyone who participated!

Congratulations to the all of the students who auditioned for the 2013 PMEA District 7 Honor Jazz Band. 5 CDHS students were selected by competitive audition to be members of the band- Seniors- Byron Hang, Ryan Mouery, and Brandon Mouery; Junior- Brett Cuddy, and Freshman- Bradley Katz.

Congratulations to the 23 CDHS students who were selected by competitive audition for the 2013 DCMEA All-County Band. Seniors: Greg St. Clair, Jacob Case, Emily Kissinger, Sreeram Ravi, Janelle Koontz, John Leonard, and Cody Mullen. Juniors: Lauren Rittle, Matthew Adlestein, Andrew Herring, Wesley Miller, Rebecca Yoder, and Helen Fagan. Sophomores: Allison Chambers, Mariesa Beneventano, Samantha Kauffman, Derek Whittle, Rachel Chronister, and Andrew McNaughton. Congratulations to the CDHS Ram Marching Band. The band was recently awarded 3rd place for their performance in the Harrisburg Holiday Parade.

Congratulations to the CDHS Ram Marching Band on their championship performance this past weekend at the TOB Atlantic Coast Championships. The band took first place in the Group 4 A Class with a score of 90.4 and also received the award for high music. This championship culminates the most successful competitive season the marching band has had in over a decade and the band would like to thank everyone who was a part of making this season successful. Interested fans can see the band perform their championship show this coming Friday at the conclusion of the football game. As the band's competitive season closes, they also want to wish the best to the football team, and as always, will be there every step of the way. Go Rams!

Congratulations to the marching band for their band show success this past weekend. The marching band scored a 90.95, the highest the band has achieved in over a decade. The band was also named Group 4 A Class Chapter 6 Champions. Wish the band good luck this week as they have there final competition of the year, Atlantic Coast Championships on Saturday October 27th at Landis.

Coming off of a great performance at the Middletown band show this past Saturday, the CDHS ram marching band would like to invite you to band-a-rama, CDs very own band show. The show will be this coming Saturday, September 22, at landis field starting at 7pm. Come see many great local high school bands, a couple of great college bands, and our very own ram band, as they present their show 'on fire'. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior. If you liked the hunger games, you'll love the show, 'on fire'.
