Congratulations to the CDSD indoor pageantry units for their performance at Atlantic coast championships this past weekend. The majorettes finished in second, drumline finished in second, and the color guard was a finalist.

Congratulations to senior Andy Herring for having his arrangement of 'Come Sunday' selected as the winner of the best high school jazz arrangement by internationally renowned jazz magazine Downbeat! This is a huge honor. Andy will be featured in the June issue of Downbeat which hits newsstands soon!

4 CDHS students will be participating in the PMEA District 7 Jazz Festival. They will be performing on Saturday at Central York High School. Between the 4 students, they will be in each of the 2 jazz bands and the vocal jazz ensemble. Brett Cuddy of CD High School, was presented with a Full Scholarship to Seton Hill University by Mrs. Amber Dworek, Admissions Counselor, from the University to study Music Therapy in the fall. The presentation was made in Brett's 2nd period Choral Class surrounded by his parents, Cheryl and Brian Cuddy; Mr. Kenneth Miller, Principal of CD High School and Mr. Ron Porter, 12th Grade Principal of CD High School; Mr. Erik Clayton, Music Teacher at CD High School and his fellow students.

Three CDHS students have been selected as members of the PMEA All-State Vocal Jazz Ensemble. They will be attending the PMEA conference next Thursday and Friday March 27-28, 2014. Their concert will be with the PMEA All-State Jazz Band at Hershey High School Friday March 28 at 7:30pm at Hershey High School if any of you are interested in attending.

The students are Brett Cuddy (12th grade), Andy Herring (12th grade) and Corianne Silvers (11th grade). Andy also had a composition of his selected to be performed as part of an Outstanding Young Composers Concert and Corianne will also be performing with the Susquehanna Youth Chorale at the conference.

Friday morning 11-22-2013 there was a presentation given by the US Army and the All American Games to congratulate Shane Hocker, a senior music student, for being selected to the US Army All-American Marching Band. This is a tremendous honor for Shane. His selection into this prestigious ensemble means that he is viewed as one of the top 125 marching musicians in the country. Shane and the rest of the USAAMB will perform at the US Army All-American Bowl game in San Antonio, Texas. The game will be broadcast live on NBC at 12:00pm on Saturday January 4, 2014.

This past Saturday, 20 students from Central Dauphin High School competed at Central York High School to be a part of the 2014 PMEA District Festival Chorus. These students competed against 500 students from over 70 school districts. 9 students from CDHS qualified for districts: Ju Mee Kim, Hope Williard, Leanne Frist, Bekah Kemerer, Tea Zumbo, Alyssa Davis, Ben Pazuchanics, Brett Cuddy, and Andy Herring. Congratulations to all who participated!

This past weekend, the CDHS Marching Band won first place at Atlantic Coast Championships, scoring a 92.85, and were promoted to Group 4 Open Class. This is the highest level of competition in Tournament of Bands. It's a big accomplishment for them. Congrats to all!

Congratulations to Brett Cuddy, Alyssa Davis, Conner Newkam-Ulrich, Ben Pazuchanics, Alejandro Ramos, Corianne Silvers, Tea Zumbo, and Hope Williard on being selected to the 2014 All-Eastern Honor Choir in Baltimore. Our students competed against singers from 12 states to earn this honor! Congratulations again to them!
